Make this quick, high protein creamy beef pasta for an easy weeknight dinner. This one-pot recipe uses ground beef and a rich garlic butter sauce for a satisfying, low-cleanup meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound pasta (penne or shells work well)
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Cook the beef, breaking it apart, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and Italian seasoning to the pot with the beef. Cook for one minute until the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Add the uncooked pasta, beef broth, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir everything together.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and butter until the butter melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
  6. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it is fully incorporated and the sauce is velvety.
  7. Taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a high protein creamy beef pasta, use lean ground beef (90% lean or higher).
  • You can substitute the beef broth with water and a high-quality beef bouillon cube for a similar flavor base.
  • If the sauce seems too thick after adding the cream, add a splash of milk or reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
