Make this easy, creamy clam dip using cream cheese and canned clams. It is a perfect, crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (6.5 ounces) minced clams, drained well
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion (white and light green parts)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the drained minced clams, sour cream, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce to the bowl.
  3. Use an electric mixer or a sturdy spoon to blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Stir in the chopped green onion and black pepper by hand. Taste the dip and add a small pinch of salt if you feel it needs more flavor balance.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the clam dip in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to combine.
  6. Serve your best clam dip cold with potato chips, sturdy crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, you can substitute half of the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a slightly spicier dip, add 1/4 teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce when mixing the ingredients.
  • Make sure you drain the canned clams thoroughly; excess liquid will make your dip thin.
