Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves.
Place the tuna steaks in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish.
Pour the marinade over the tuna, ensuring both sides are coated.
Seal the bag or cover the dish.
Refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes. Do not marinate longer than 30 minutes to prevent the acid from breaking down the fish texture.
Remove the tuna from the marinade, pat dry, and cook immediately.
Notes
For grilling, aim for 2-3 minutes per side over high heat for medium-rare.
Use this marinade for an easy fish marinade that works well with cast iron searing.
This citrus herb tuna marinade base works well if you substitute lime juice with lemon juice.
