Make this creamy, cheesy Jalapeño Popper Dip, a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for parties and game days. It has the classic flavors of jalapeño poppers in an easy, warm dip format.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapeños, drained (use fewer for less heat)
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a medium baking dish (about 8×8 inches).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
  3. Stir in the Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar cheese, green chiles, and diced jalapeños. If you are using bacon, fold in the crumbled bacon now.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese and panko breadcrumbs. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the dip.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chives.
  8. Serve this hot party dip immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker dip variation, combine all ingredients except the topping in a small slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours or high for 1 hour. Top with the cheese/breadcrumb mixture during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  • You can prepare the dip mixture (without the topping) one day ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator. Add the topping just before baking.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, use pickled jalapeños instead of fresh or canned, and remove most of the seeds.
