Make this rich, creamy white pizza sauce at home in just 10 minutes. This garlic white pizza sauce tastes better than store-bought and creates a perfect base for your homemade pizza.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for one minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  4. Slowly whisk in the warm milk until the mixture is smooth. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Continue stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and rich. Do not boil after adding the cream and cheese.
  7. Remove the sauce from the heat. Use immediately as the base sauce for your pizza.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
  • This sauce works well for chicken pizza or veggie pies.
  • Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop.
